Guide to Valencia: Top 8 Best Restaurants in Valencia

Visiting Valencia? Lucky you! Even though this Spanish city has gained popularity over the years, it is still relatively quiet and the locals are not overthrown by tourism just yet.

But there is another reason why you are lucky you’re visiting Valencia. That is because the food here is amazing! I have been to and seen so many amazing restaurants, it would be impossible to visit them all during a short trip.

That’s why I have compiled a Guide to Valencia with the Top 8 Best Restaurants in Valencia that you really need to check out.

1. Voltereta – Bienvenido a Bali

To begin with, at the top of this list has to be Voltereta – Bienvenido a Bali. I only discovered this gem on the very last day in Valencia and according to the beaming reviews on Google, it was a miracle that we could just walk in and get a table.

What makes this restaurant special is not only its entrance (check it out in my Instagram Highlights), the amazing interior decor, but mostly the terrific food.

Despite its name, don’t expect any Balinese food in this restaurant. But trust me, you won’t miss it either. Voltereta operates according to the shared dining experience. This means that you order about 2-3 plates per person and you share everything you get with your table. I visited this restaurant with two friends and we got six plates in total and was totally stuffed afterwards.

Next week a more detailed blog about my experience at Voltereta – Bienvenido a Bali will be online!

Address: Gran Via del Marqués del Túria, 59

2. Best Restaurants in Valencia: Lambrusqueria

An Italian restaurant in the list of best restaurants of Valencia? Yes for sure! The atmosphere at Lambrusqueria can be described as cozy and intimate. Added bonus: It is also cheap! My pasta was around €8/€9.

Whether you are sitting outside on their terrace (advised!) or inside (where we were seated, is still great!), you will have a great dining experience. Order one of the fantastic pastas on their menu – you won’t regret it.

Address: Carrer del Comte d’Altea, 31

3. Jardin Urbano

On a sunny afternoon in June I had lunch at Jardin Urbano. When we arrived, we were the only people, but the terrace quickly filled up with more groups of people. Jardin Urbano is a fully vegetarian restaurant, so the veggies among us can order whatever they like. I had a great perrito caliente (hot dog) and shared very good guacamole.

Address: Carrer de Pere III el Gran, 26

Can you believe this is all vegetarian?

4. Restaurante Copenhagen

Sometimes a restaurant looks a little bit clinical, but the food can surprise you a lot. This is what happened at Restaurante Copenhagen in Valencia. This Danish-styled restaurant (read: a lot of white and empty walls) also worked with the shared dining concept. We ordered the three-course shared menu (€18 without drinks or €25 with three drinks included), where you get four different starters to share, you get to choose your own main course, and you finish with three more desserts to share and a cup of coffee or tea.

Address: Carrer del Literat Azorín, 8

5. Dulce de Leche Boutique Ruzafa

Looking for the best place to have breakfast, brunch, lunch or to go for something sweet? Look no further, Dulce de Leche has you covered. Either on the terrace or inside, you can get stuffed bagels and sandwiches or choose from one of the dozens and dozens of different cakes they have on display. The question is not if you will get a piece of cake, but which one.

Address: Carrer del Pintor Gisbert, 2

6. Best Restaurants in Valencia: Federal

Looking for a good place to have brunch after a night out? Federal is the place to be! Located in the heart of the old centre, this restaurant has a menu with a variety of meat, fish and veggie options. Take a seat in the Instagrammable windows, at the bar, or just inside in the restaurant.

Address: Carrer de l’Ambaixador Vich, 15

7. Zumm Salads

After you have tried all of the places above, it could feel like it is time for a detox. Zumm Salads is the ultimate solution to this. The have a great pasta and paella, but you can also opt for a DIY salad.

Address: Carrer de la Pau, 10

8. La Pepica

Last but not least, you cannot leave Valencia without trying one of the famous paellas. The best one you can eat at the beach, at restaurant La Pepica. The interior looks like it hasn’t changed in the past 25 years, but the food is good. Rumour has it that even Hemingway and the royal family come here for the best paellas. I ate a vegetable paella here which was very good.

Address: Passeig de Neptú, 6

Vegetable paella at one of the best restaurants in Valencia: La Pepica

Good to know: I also tried the paella at Marina Beach Club, but it was cold in some parts and way too salty. Also the restaurant Sagardi, famous for its pintxos, disappointed me. Therefore, they are not part of this list.
